ORGANIZATION

The Body of Christ is an organization which requires structure. We acknowledge that there are many different kinds of church structures that may be used in the local church. The Bible does not address all of the specifics of church organization. However, Scripture does provide a framework which all churches can work with. We have adopted the church structure we believe meets the principles set forth in Scripture.

An Overview of Faith Church Organization Structure

  1. Pastoral - The Pastoral staff is the highest governing authority in the church. The Pastoral Ministry's primary responsibilities are:
    1. To maintain the Biblical faithfulness of the church.
    2. To provide the general direction and policies of the church by submitting to and hearing God.
    3. To provide a safe and open atmosphere for the worship of God.
    4. To provide fiscal accountability of the church.
    5. To provide educational opportunities for the disciplining of believers.
  2. Senior Pastor - As an elder, the senior pastor shall meet all the qualifications of an elder (1 Tim.3:17; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4) and carry out the Pastoral staff's direction for the church, as well as:
    1. Oversee the operation of the staff.
    2. Provide specific vision and leadership for the church.
    3. Serve as the spokesperson of God to the congregation.
  3. Associate Pastors - As co-laborers, these leaders assist the Pastor in shepherding the flock. They shall serve the church with the same consecration set forth for the elders. As one Pastor stated, their primary responsibility is analogous to that of a sheep dog; to help corral and protect the flock from wolves.
  4. Church Advisors/Elders - Of which the Senior Pastor is President, provides financial and spiritual oversight and accountability. As such, these lay leaders are chosen by the Pastor/President to assist them as advisors in the government of this local body. They serve to fulfill the scriptural admonition as stated in Prov.11:14, 15:22, and 24:6: "In a multitude of counselors there is wisdom and safety."
  5. Department Leaders and Deacons - These lay leaders oversee one of the dozens of ministries within the church under the direction of the elders. The Biblical qualifications of those serving in administrative offices (deacons) and department leaders (1 Tim. 3:8-12; Acts 6:3; Rom. 16):
    1. Persons of dignity, worthy of respect.
    2. Not double-tongued; genuine, sincere in speech.
    3. Not addicted to alcohol or drugs.
    4. Not greedy or a lover of money.
    5. Holds faith with a clear conscience.
    6. One beyond reproach, open to examination.
    7. Husband of one wife or in the case of a woman, wife of one husband. (Doesn't necessarily rule out widows, widowers, and those who have been divorced.)
    8. Good manager of children and household.
    9. Has a good reputation outside the church.
    10. Full of the Spirit and wisdom.

Support Staff - Full and part-time secretaries, receptionists, and office managers may serve under the authority of the elders and under the direct supervision of the Pastor.
